Moonjar
Jenny and Omar Omerika are the children of Anita and Smiley, a Croatian immigrant family who came to Seattle 8 years ago. Their parents, Anita and Smiley wanted to talk to their children about money. Jenny and Omar each received a Moonjar Moneybox and quickly began to learn about Spending, Saving and Sharing. Jenny and Omar then earned allowances through household chores. Their spending money went to buying ice cream cones for each other. Within six months, after dreaming of owning a parrot, they were able to save $400 to buy a parrot and the birdcage. Together the family decided to donate the money from their Share box to needy families in their village in Croatia.

Eventually Jenny and Omar brought their Moonjars into their classrooms on “Share Day”. All the children, amazed and excited by Jenny and Omar’s success, started talking about what they would do if they if they had a Moonjar. But that’s another story...
